One of My Applications Is Running Slowly or Frozen

Picture this: you're working on something important for work in one of the applications on your computer - and then it starts to lag or freezes completely. Isn't that the worst?!

If this happens to you, try one of these solutions to get back to work!

If your application is running slowly:
  1. Close out a few other applications that you have open, but aren't currently using. This will give your computer more capacity to direct towards the application you are!
  2. Close out the application completely and reopen it after a few minutes.
    1. For Windows - Press the Alt and F4 buttons on your keyboard at the same time.
    2. For Mac - Press the Command and Q buttons on your keyboard at the same time.
  3. Update the application - but only if it's downloaded onto your computer and you aren't accessing the application in a web browser. You can do this from your computer's app store or by doing a Google search for any software updates for that particular application.
  4. Restart your computer by turning it off, waiting a few minutes, turning it back on, and reopening the application.
If your application is frozen - which means you can't click on anything within the app or close it normally:
  1. Force quit the application.
    1. For a PC - press and hold the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete buttons at the same time. This will open the Task Manager where you can choose which application(s) to close out and select End Task.
    2. For a Mac - press and hold the Command, Option, and Esc buttons at the same time. This will open the Task Manager where you can which application(s) to close out and select Force Quit.
  2. Restart your computer by turning it off, waiting a few minutes, turning it back on, and reopening the application.
